Brass dial shelf clock, ca. 1785.

Mahogany shelf clock with a molded cornice, a cove molded top, and three brass urn-and-spire finials. Top section with brass stop-fluted quarter columns with brass capitals and bases, sidelights with astragal tops, cast brass handles at either side, and a rectangular door with an arched glazed opening. Plain middle section with cove molding at top, string inlay, and a molded base. Bottom section, a twentieth century addition with stop-fluted pilasters at the front and a molded bottom. Engraved dial with roman hour numerals and arabic minute numerals, engraved ornament in the spandrels, and an engraved silent/strike selector in the lunette. On the chapter ring, there is a small engraved dial with the numbers 1 through 6 at the twelve o'clock position. Inside the chapter ring there is an engraved seconds dial, an engraved calendar dial, and the inscription "Simon Willard." Eight day movement.
